In our time and age wealthy individuals, banks and institutions have increasingly stepped forward to lend the strugling musicians a financial hand, allowing them to further their careers with the necessary tools of the trade, namely top quality instruments.
Philanthropy in its purest form still exist, but the more common form today is for the investor to purchase the instrument, then loan it to a talented player for a specified period of time. The player pays the insurance and maintenance of the instrument and usually agrees to one or two "free" concerts a year, at a venue of the investors choice. This could be the investors private home or a companies function.
As the instruments in question has steadily increased in value at double digit percentage points, this form of "philanthropy" eventually becomes a very good investment for the investor, as well as giving the pleasure of nurturing a tallent to its fullest potential.
